About Me
I grew up around acupuncture and it has always inspired me.
I am a graduate of the Northern College of Acupuncture, York where I trained in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) style acupuncture for 3 years qualifying to practice with a BSc degree. I also studied Five Element style acupuncture at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in Warwick. I've focused my studies and training in recent years in Classical Chinese Medicine. These styles compliment and inform one another in clinical practice.
As a post graduate I apprenticed with a practitioner who is an expert in mental and emotional health, stress and trauma, this being one of my particular interests. In recent years I've studied Classical Chinese Medicine style acupuncture.
My other areas of significant interest are treating digestive issues such as IBS, muscular skeletal complaints, migraines, insomnia and anything that presents.
more then anything I enjoy treating the person and my main drive in practice is to improve quality of life.
As part of my continuing professional development (CPD). I attend a variety of courses and seminars each year. Details of these can be found by clicking the link below.
My clinics are held at Heaton Acupuncture Clinic in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.www.heatonacupuncture.co.uk
Previously I worked as an Acupuncturist providing support and acupuncture services to patients receiving cancer care, carers and staff in the NHS at James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough. I also gained a broad understanding of Western Medicine whilst working as a Pharmacy Technician for ten years in hospitals around the UK.
As a member of the British Acupuncture Council you can be assured that I adhere to their high standards of care and professional conduct.
